If you don’t want to hear stories with the words “TDI” “Diesel” or “VW” together until they also contain the phrase “...and this is how we’re going to fix it”.

I think this would also be appropriate

Until they say what the remedy is my general reaction is:
and even then, I’ll probably feel the same.

I think we all know by now VW cheated.
Things I would be interested in:
other manufacturers who’ve cheated
“...and this is how we’re going to fix it”.

It’s like Paul Walker or Top Gear all over again. Everybody and their grandma has to chip in their oh so unique $0.02.

I’m guilty of putting my 2 cents in, but that was last week and it was more a “this is what its like to own my shamewagen TDI”. Duurtlang said it well: I think we all know by now that VW cheated.

I’m content never reading any stories with those magic words in them again.

Last week it was O.K. to discuss the recent goings on. By the end of this week it’s come down to regurgitating what everybody else has already said a thousand times. It’s old news, move along, nothing to see here... at least until there is a fix/Winterkorn has to do time/VW declares bankruptcy/etc...

What if my tdi explodes again?

I don’t want to talk about any Volkswagens newer than 1973..

I run a German shop, and I’m getting at least 5 calls or questions a day about it anyway. I don’t need it to occupy every other slot on the front page.

A base Porsche 924 is a great car, but up to now it only gets good mileage, not great, and it’s not as powerful as it could be. Using this VW TDI diesel, this is how we’re going to fix it.

Just like the GM ignition switch deal, it’ll pass as soon as the next big thing happens.

I think we know how VW fixed the test.

I don’t have any problem with lots of news on an important topic...but news between news? nope.

If only this meant that an R4 16V TDI engine was made cheaper. I want to stick one in a 924.

That would be fun. A client called to today inquiring about engines for his PD ‘04 Golf that’s going in 400k, and said that those engines are now $3800, down from about $5k. Maudi Quancho inches closer to reality...

I got an interview for another job yesterday. Not sure if I’m going to get an offer, but I may end up scaring my employer into giving me a raise instead if it’s not worth taking at this time. Regardless, operation “get Ramblin the fuck out of debt” may be able to accelerate moderately within the month. Whether that will mean me being unwise and going to buy Jarod Rose’s Lincoln or not, the Quancho has favorable signs in the wind.

Congrats on that if either is successful, and good luck on the debt reduction. Just don’t delay the Ramphibichero on the Quancho’s behalf, that car needs to see the road/lake for the betterment of humanity. But, sometimes buying other old cars is the only way forward, and old Lincolns have an appeal all their own. As do old Fairlanes. And Matras. And Alfa Romeos. And so on. My Audi donor parts stash isn’t going anywhere.

You expected anything different from him? I lived with him for a few years, and I was just waiting for that as I scrolled down the page.
